GreenFrontier
Conservation justice in Europe's peripheries
ABOUT US
What is GreenFrontier?
GreenFrontier: Politics of Conservation and Unequal Ecological Exchange in the European Peripheries is a five-year research project running from 2024 to 2029 funded by the European Research Council and hosted at the Forest and Nature Conservation Policy Group at Wageningen University.
The project investigates the development of strict nature protection regimes across four mountain regions in Europe. Across these uplands, current processes of land abandonment, rural decline and historical forms of underdevelopment influence current conservation visions.
“How does a green growth vision based on strict protection of biodiversity change human-environment relations in Europe's marginal areas?”
